My job is to make sure that he has what he needs, and that the nurses at Menlo Park know he's got an advocate (and of course to BE his advocate). So yesterday I went shopping, and since he hasn't been eating and doesn't like the hospital food at all, I brought a few of his favorite non-perishable foods just to have in case he wants them. He hasn't touched most of it, but ate a few bites of the DQ ice cream I brought him today.
Tomorrow, even though radiation and chemotherapy are a daunting combination, he will begin the chemo. Radiation will continue daily (except for weekends) through the 20th. He was originally supposed to start chemo on July 31st, but due to the cancer's aggression, the schedule has been modified. He is dreading the nausea most of all, and is quite concerned about starting chemo, even though he knows he needs to. I'm going to try to take the day off tomorrow and go with him for this first session, as well as his appointment with oncology in the morning.
I took a picture of him when I stopped in for my loooong lunch today.
As a side note, some of Dad's great friends, Andi and KC in particular (and many more that I have not been in contact with!) are working to try to make his wish of attending Burning Man a reality. Since the initial donation was posted to the paypal account (pandora at egeekbme.com) mere minutes after I gave Andi the account, I have no doubt that if he is physically able, we will get him there - THANK YOU ALL!!!

Re: Starting Chemotherapy Wow, your dad looks beat but you can still see the glimmer of happy go luckiness attitude there. Thanks for the update.
