Well, the story of John Corbin has now come to an end. What an eventful and exciting story my dad created of his life! Sometimes, particularly when alone, I start crying and say to the empty air around me "I miss you Daddy!" There is no answer, but it helps to say it out loud anyway. Although many people have a hard time with the pictures of him during his illness, I have some fond memories of the time I spent with him in CA, even though he was certainly not the robust man I knew for my entire life. Reading "Pandora's Star" to him, a book I've always loved and discussing the amazing sciences depicted therein. Giving him a foot massage and then sitting near his bed with my foot resting on his bed, only to find him rubbing my foot with his one good hand, trying to reciprocate the massage. And my fondest memory of these sad times was falling asleep with my head resting on his bed near his head, and having him wake up and say "Oh look at you! There you are!" in a happy tone of voice, as one might speak to a small child, while at the same time petting my hair.
I want to thank everyone who donated, everyone who shared their words and love, everyone who attended the funeral and the after-burn, and everyone who loved my dad. It warms my heart to know that so many people felt so strongly for him, including many that I never had the pleasure of meeting.
Blessings, love, and happiness to you all.
